Michael Powell: A Profile
For those of you who are new to the designs of Michael Powell here is a brief resume. Our designs are based on the beautiful artwork of Michael Powell. Michael is primarily an artist, but an artist with a unique and recognisable style that translates brilliantly into needlework whether it is cross-stitch or tapestry. His love of buildings and architecture are the main inspiration for his work, normally created in pen and ink and watercolour. With the pen and ink replaced by backstitch and the watercolour palette replaced with the vast colour range of cotton or wool, it has become the perfect medium to further develop his style and introduce his art to a brand new audience.
Our designs cater for everyone from the most experienced stitcher to the beginner. The charts and instructions are clear and very easy to understand. The materials are of the best quality including Zweigart fabric and Anchor stranded cottons and for the New tapestry designs, printed Zweigart fabric and Appletons tapestry wools.
Michael has been busier than ever and has added several new designs to existing ranges including Mini Tuscan Cottages and Mini Lighthouses to the Mini Cottages range. Spanish Hill Town II and III to complete the Spanish Hill Town Triptych. Secret Gardens is another beautiful new range and ‘Handmade Houses’ is a fantastic collectable series of villages starting with Handmade Houses – France.
By popular demand we have launched a range of Tapestry kits with two designs based on the best selling Pots of Love cross stitch designs. The two images are designed to be made into cushions.
Michael’s range of cross stitch kits are now well established in the market place, offering stitchers something very different, and the opportunity to create a piece of art of their very own.
